Terms of Use and Subscription Terms
Leafday — the diary app and monthly printed kit. Last updated 28 October 2026.
The printed kit is not on sale yet. The app is free and opens on its own; the kit and the subscription described under The printed kit below begin on the day subscriptions open, which we plan for January 2027. Until then there is nothing to buy and nothing is charged. Everything under that heading, about the plan, charges, kits and parcels, applies from that day, and we will update this page, and say so in the app, before it does.
This page has two parts. The first is the rules for using Leafday, including Friends; they apply to everyone with an account, from the day you make one. The second, under The printed kit, says what you pay for the monthly kit, when your card is charged and what arrives in the post. It is written to be read rather than quoted back at you afterwards. If anything here is unclear, ask: support@leafday.ca.
Who we are
Leafday is operated by Taeyeon Kim, a sole proprietor in Ontario, Canada. Contact: support@leafday.ca.
Who Leafday is for
Leafday is for people aged 13 or over. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian. When you start using Friends you confirm that you are at least 13. We cannot check anyone's age. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it.
Your diary and what you post
Your diary is yours. We do not own it, and we use it only to run Leafday for you: to store it, to show it back to you, to show the pages you choose to the people you choose, and to print it if you subscribe. By posting a page you give us permission to store and show it in that way, and for no other purpose.
What you post is your responsibility. Post only what you have the right to share, and do not post anything that:
- is against the law;
- shows a child in a sexual way, or puts a child at risk;
- is sexually explicit, or shows nudity;
- harasses, threatens, bullies or demeans a person or a group, or promotes hatred, violence or self-harm;
- shows or gives out someone's private details, such as their address or phone number, or a photograph of them, without their agreement;
- pretends to be someone else; or
- is spam.
Photographs of other people: share a photograph of someone only if they would be happy to see it shared, and take particular care with children.
Friends and stories
Friends is optional. A story is a picture of a day's photograph side that you choose to post. You choose who can see it: all of your friends, your besties only, or only the friends you tag. It is shown for 3 days. You can tag friends in a story; each tagged friend gets a copy of the page in their Friends book, and a tagged friend can post a story that was shown to all of your friends on to their own story. What a person can see, and what is deleted and when, is set out in the privacy policy.
Tag only friends who are happy for the page to be shared on, and do not tag people who do not want it. Do not use Friends to contact people who have not agreed to hear from you, to get round a block or a closed account, or to send spam, and do not make new accounts to do any of these.
The Friends book
When you tag a friend you give them a copy of the page, and they keep it in their Friends book until they remove it. Taking your story down, deleting the day or deleting your account does not remove their copy. In the same way, a copy you are given is yours to keep or remove. We may remove a copy that breaks the rules on this page.
Reporting, blocking and what we do
There is no place in Leafday for content that breaks the rules above, and we do not tolerate it.
- Report a story. Open it, tap the three dots at the top right, and tap Report.
- Block a person. Use the same menu, or the three dots beside a friend on the Friends page, and tap Block.
- We read every report ourselves and aim to look at each one within 72 hours.
- If a story breaks these rules we take it down. Depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before, we may also remove a copy from a Friends book, warn the person, or close their account, with or without a warning.
- Content that sexually exploits a child is closed on sight and reported to the police or to Cybertip.ca.
- If you think we got it wrong, write to support@leafday.ca and we will look again.
Closing an account
You can delete your account at any time, in the app: Settings → Legal, your data & account → Delete account. How it works, and what is kept.
We may close an account that breaks these rules. We will email the address on the account and say why, unless that would put someone at risk. If we close your account, write to us and we will either give you a copy of your diary or delete it, whichever you prefer. Deleting or closing an account does not remove the copies that friends already hold in their Friends books.
The printed kit
Everything from here to Changes to these terms is about the monthly printed kit. It begins on the day subscriptions open (see the box at the top).
The plan
| Plan | Where | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leafday Bundle | Canada | CAD 29.99 a month | A monthly kit in the post: a binder to start, then each month's printed pages, a prompt page or two and one sticker |
The app is free to use. Every format, every day, whether or not you subscribe. What a subscription buys is the kit in the post, and we only post within Canada.
When your card is charged
Bundle: the first charge is on the day you subscribe. Every charge after that is on the 1st of the month, and pays for that calendar month's kit.
This means the gap between your first and second charge is never a full month. If your first kit is the month you joined in, the gap is shorter than a month — as little as 12 days if you join right on the cutoff. If your first kit is the following month, the gap is longer than a month instead, because that first payment already bought a kit for a month that had not started yet. Either way it is not a double charge: your first payment buys one complete kit, and the 1st is where the schedule settles for good.
We charge this to an ordinary card or Apple Pay rather than through the app store, because the kit is a physical object shipped to you and the app stores require it that way. That is also why your renewal date is the 1st rather than the day you joined: a store-billed subscription renews on its own anniversary and we could not have moved it.
Which month your first kit is
A kit is a fixed set of 31 sheets — one for every day of the month, whatever the month's length. (A first kit can be larger; see the end of this section.) Days you did not record print as ruled paper with a single printed line on them, which is deliberate: they are yours to write on.
That only works if enough of the month was still ahead of you when you joined. So:
- Join on or before the 20th and your first kit is that month.
- Join later than that and the app opens immediately, while your first kit becomes the following month — and the days you record between joining and the end of this month are printed with it. That first kit is bigger than the ones after it, not smaller.
Exactly where the line falls depends on the month's length: the 20th of a 31-day month, the 19th of a 30-day one, the 17th of February. The day is counted in Eastern Time, where the kits are packed and posted from — so if you are further west, a late-evening signup can already count as the next day. The app tells you which month your first kit is before you subscribe, and the shipment card on your home screen names it afterwards.
The only days that are never printed are the ones before you joined — days you were not here for. Everything you record from the moment you subscribe is printed, whichever kit it lands in. Nothing you record is lost by joining late; it arrives a month later, in a thicker parcel.
When a kit arrives
A month cannot be printed until it has finished, so each month's pages are promised by the last day of the following month. September's pages arrive by 31 October. Volume 1 also includes the binder itself; a new binder comes with months 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11.
No part-months
The price is the same whatever day of the month you join, and nothing is prorated in either direction. In exchange, a kit is never a part-month either: whichever month is your first, you get all of it.
Cancelling
- Cancel whenever you like — in the app, or by writing to us.
- The app keeps working exactly as before. It is free, so cancelling takes nothing away from it — every format, every past day, and the written side of every sheet.
- Every month you have paid for is still printed and posted, including the month you cancel in — it was charged on that month's 1st and it is yours. Nothing further is charged.
- Kits are printed once their month has ended, so your last one arrives by the end of the month after it. Cancelling does not make it come sooner.
- Your entries stay yours — export them at any time from Settings (Legal, your data & account → Export my data).
If something goes wrong with a parcel
Write to support@leafday.ca within 30 days of a kit's promised date if it did not arrive or arrived damaged, and we reprint it free. For a parcel that never arrived we check the carrier's tracking; for a damaged one, a photograph is enough.
Kits are printed in one run at the start of each month, so a reprint goes out with the next month's parcels rather than on its own. Free reprints are limited to two per subscriber in any twelve months; beyond that we reprint at cost.
We do not refund a kit because you changed your mind. Every page is printed from your own entries, so a kit that comes back cannot be sold to anyone else — reprinting is what we offer, and in almost every case it is what actually fixes the problem.
Money comes back when a reprint cannot fix it: a kit that never arrives and cannot be reprinted, or a subscription we end from our side.
Please keep your shipping address current in the app. If a parcel comes back as undeliverable we will resend it once to a corrected address at no charge, and at cost after that.
Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under Ontario consumer law — including the implied conditions and warranties that apply to goods, which we cannot contract out of. Where those rights give you more than this section does, they apply.
Billing errors
If you are charged by mistake — twice for the same month, or after you had already cancelled — write to support@leafday.ca and we refund the mistaken charge in full. This is separate from the section above: a reprint fixes a kit that did not arrive or arrived damaged, but a charge that should never have happened is refunded, not resolved with paper.
Taxes
Prices shown are exclusive of sales tax. Leafday is not registered for GST/HST at present, so no sales tax is added to your charges today.
If registration becomes required by law, applicable Canadian sales tax will be added to charges to Canadian addresses from that point on. We will tell you at least 30 days beforehand, in the same way as a price change, and the tax first appears on a charge on the first 1st of the month after that notice. Shipments outside Canada are not charged Canadian sales tax.
Price changes
If the price changes we will email you at the address on your account, and say so in the app, at least 30 days before it takes effect. The new price starts on the first 1st of the month after that notice period, so it is never a surprise on a charge.
You can cancel at any point before then, and every month you have paid for still ships. An announced change never applies to a month you have already paid for.
29.99 is a launch price, and it will go up. If you subscribed to the bundle before an increase takes effect, your price does not change for as long as your subscription stays active — an increase applies to people who join after it. If your subscription ends and you subscribe again later, you start at whatever the price is then.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that affects what you pay or what you receive, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
