Make an ordinary day feel a little special.
Leafday is a photo diary. Take a few photographs, add a line or two, and the day is already a designed page, in about a minute. Keep the month on a shelf, and show a page to the friends you choose.
Free, with no advertising. The printed kit starts in January, within Canada. About the kit
Sample days. The photographs in these screens are test images.

A day takes about a minute.
Choose a page and fill its frames. Each page is a fixed layout, not an endless list, so there is no blank page to stare at and nothing to decorate. Tap an empty frame to take a photograph, or choose one from that day's pictures.
The time and a line of your own words sit on the photograph. Zoom in on a photograph and draw on it, and the drawing stays on the part you drew it on.
Six page formats
- Posterone big photograph
- Three Stagesthree bands, named as you like
- Magazinefour photographs
- Calendarfive frames, a calendar day
- Mood Boardseven prints and a note
- Gridnine frames
Every day has a back page.
Under the photographs is the written side: a ruled page, laid out just like the printed back, that you can reach by scrolling down and add to at any time, even years later.
Type, speak instead of typing, or draw with your finger or a stylus, in a colour taken from the day's own photographs. Four colour themes, including Black.
Keep the month. Find it again.
Every month goes on a shelf as a book: the finished months stand up, and the one you are writing lies down. Open a book and its days lie in a grid of pages. Heart the days you love and they gather, year by year, into a Favourites book.

Show a page to the friends you choose.
Friends is optional, and it is not a feed. You add a friend with a code you send them yourself: there is no search, no list of members, and Leafday never looks at your contacts.
Post a day's page as a story and only the people you choose can see it: all your friends, just your besties, or only the friends you tag. After 3 days it is gone.
- No comments, no reactions, and nobody is told who looked.
- A friend you tag keeps a copy of that page in their own Friends book until they remove it.
- Report a story or block a person from inside the app. We read every report ourselves and aim to look at each one within 72 hours.
Save a day as a picture.
Save any day, a week at a time, or the best days of your year as pictures. It is free, and stays free. Each one is made in the shape it will be shown or printed in, so nothing has to be cropped.
A story is 9:16 and a feed post is 4:5. The A6 postcard size is 1240 × 1748 pixels, which is 300 dpi for a 105 × 148 mm card, so it prints with nothing to crop.
And from January, the month on paper.
The printed kit starts in January 2027 and posts within Canada only. Nothing is on sale yet.
Write through the month in the app. From January, when the month ends, we print it, one sheet for every day, and post it to you.
- Write in the app. Photographs, a few lines, whatever the day was. It takes a minute, and it is free to use.
- Choose what gets printed. You pick which days go on paper. Days you skip arrive as ruled sheets, deliberately blank, yours to fill in by hand.
- The month arrives. From January, once a month has finished it is printed and posted, promised by the last day of the month after it.
What will come in the post
- 31 sheets, one for every day of the month, whatever its length
- Everything needed to bind them into the month’s volume. The sheets are punched for an A5 six-ring binder.
- A prompt page or two a month: one the same every time and, most months, one that changes
- One sticker a month
- Hand-packed. It is meant to be nice to open.
The kit ships within Canada only. Everywhere else, the app is free to use and there is nothing to buy.
The price, when it opens
$29.99 a month, for the first 100
Canadian dollars. From the 101st member it is $37.99 a month.
The app is free and stays free. The subscription is for the paper: printing and the postage. Cancel any time. Every month you have paid for is still printed and posted.
The first hundred keep $29.99 for as long as their subscription stays active. If you cancel and come back later, you pay whatever the price is then.
Nothing is on sale yet. Subscriptions open in January. Put your name down and we will tell you before they do. That is the only way to be sure of one of the first hundred.
Tell me when it opensOne email when it opens. Nothing else, and no sharing your address.
Your diary is yours.
A diary is the most personal thing most people own, so here is what that means, in plain words. The privacy policy says the same at greater length.
- Private unless you post it
- The only pages anyone else sees are the ones you choose to post to friends, and you choose who.
- No advertising, no tracking, nothing sold
- There is no advertising or tracking in the app, and nothing is shared with advertisers. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies.
- Kept in Montreal
- Your diary and your Friends data are stored in Canada, in Montreal.
- No location left on your photographs
- Photographs have their location data stripped before they are uploaded.
- Leafday keeps no recording of your voice
- When you dictate, your phone's own speech recogniser turns speech into text, and on some phones that means Apple or Google hear it. Leafday receives only the text, and no recording is kept.
- Take it with you, or delete it all
- Export every entry and photograph as a zip file, or delete your account and everything in it, from inside the app. Deleting is immediate and permanent. How to delete your account.
- For people aged 13 or over
- If you are under 18, please use Leafday only with the permission of a parent or guardian.
Questions people ask first
- Is the app free?
- Yes. Writing, photographs, drawing and saving your days as pictures are free, with no advertising, and they stay that way whether or not you ever subscribe to the printed kit.
- Is there an iPhone version?
- It is on its way to the App Store. This page will link to it the day it is there.
- Is there an iPhone version?
- Yes. Leafday is on the App Store and on Google Play.
- Is it a social network?
- No. Your diary is private. If you choose to use Friends, you can show a page to people you added with a code, for 3 days. There is no public feed and no search.
- Who can see my diary?
- Only you. The pages anyone else sees are the ones you post to friends. When the printed kit opens, the one person who prints it will see the pages that go on paper, and you decide which days are printed at all.
- Do I have to write every day?
- No. Days you did not record print as ruled paper with a single line on them. The month still arrives complete.
- When does it start?
- The app is free now. The printed kit starts in January, and that is when subscriptions open. Until then there is nothing to buy and nothing is charged.
- What if I join halfway through a month?
- Join on or before the 20th and that month is your first kit. Join later and the app opens straight away while your first kit becomes the following month, printed thicker, because everything you wrote in between comes with it.
- Can I stop?
- Any time, in the app. Nothing further is charged, and the months you already paid for are still printed and posted.
- Which languages?
- The app is in English, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and your diary can be written in any of them.
Made by one person, in Ontario.
Leafday is made by Taeyeon Kim, a sole proprietor in Ontario. There are no employees. When the printed kit opens, nothing will be sent to a print shop: the pages will go from the app to a printer here and into an envelope.
